Gearing Up with Life After Racing
Meet some of the passionate team from Life After Racing and watch as a harness is put on a horse.
Life After Racing is committed to providing retired Standardbred Race Horses with loving homes.
You can meet us at the Games on Saturday. Come between 2 pm and 4 pm at the hitching posts near the Plaza Corner of The Square. We’ll be accompanied by two remarkable equine companions:
- Gavin (paddock name) Call Security (racing name): winner of seven races to date
- Chevy (paddock name) Midnight Hour (racing name): This horse serves as the Clerk of the Course’s trusted companion at Manawatū.
Our belief is clear
“Every Standardbred horse should be treated with respect, compassion, and understanding, receiving a standard of care that ensures a high quality of life both within the racing industry and after retirement.”
Standardbreds across New Zealand continue to excel in various equestrian disciplines post-racing. These include showing, trekking, show jumping, endurance, competitive trail riding, cowboy challenge, and eventing. Join us to learn more about how these incredible horses embark on fulfilling journeys after their racing careers.
