Top Kiwi Sports Memorabilia Raises Over $6,000 for Agri Futures Scholarships

A selection of signed Olympic and national sports memorabilia raised $6,190 towards Agri Futures Scholarships during a charity auction held at the Ford New Zealand Rural Sports Awards, hosted at Awapuni Racing Centre in Palmerston North on Friday, 7 March.

The auction featured items donated by some of New Zealand’s most celebrated athletes and coaches, with spirited bidding from a crowd committed to supporting young people into careers in food and fibre.

Auction highlights included:

  • A Paris Olympic framed singlet signed by trampoline star Dylan Schmidt sold for $620.
  • A Paris Olympic-framed sailing shirt signed by Olympian Erica Dawson sold for $620.
  • A signed 2023 Black Ferns rugby jersey, generously donated by coaching great Wayne Smith, attracted a winning bid of $2,250.
  • A signed Black Caps cricket shirt from Tim Southee, one of New Zealand’s most respected cricket captains, raised the evening’s highest amount of $2,700.

Agri Futures Scholarships are awarded each September to support rangatahi (young people) on their pathways into careers in food and fibre. The number of scholarships offered is determined by the results of the auction and donations for the scholarship programme. We’ll be calling for scholarship applications in August.
