Canine Friends Pet Therapy
Where Dogs Bring Joy to Lives!
For over three decades, Canine Friends Pet Therapy has been on a mission to make the world a happier place, one paw at a time. Our nationwide not-for-profit organisation is fueled by the belief that “dogs helping people” is more than just a motto; it’s a way of life. With 34 years of heartwarming experience under our collar, we’ve only grown stronger in our commitment to spreading joy.
Powered entirely by volunteers, from top to tail, we take immense pride in sharing the love of our well-mannered dogs with the public. Our diverse pack includes dogs of all sizes and shapes, and we welcome them all as long as they pass our rigorous assessment. The only breeds we don’t accept are the banned ones.
With a national family of 700 dedicated members, we currently have 54 members in the Manawatu region. These incredible volunteers visit 23 rest homes, the Arohanui Hospice, and the Palmerston North Public Hospital, including the children’s ward, ICU, and most other wards on a weekly basis. Additionally, we regularly bring smiles to the faces of residents at the Marion Kennedy Centre, Teen Parent Centre, and other facilities by invitation.
You’ll find your local Canine Friends Pet Therapy team underneath UCOL marquee in the Relaxation Zone – a zoned off area in front of a big screen TV for those with accessibility issues from retirees to those with disabilities.
